About Schwartzhund Rottweilers...

Natalie & Mae "Schwartzhund Gretl"
February 2015
Thank you for visiting...
Our family acquired our first pedigree Rottweiler Bitch in 28 years ago in 1987, Kairo (the learning curve began). Prior to this we had Welsh Corgi's (Pembroke), that Helga (Mum) bred and exhibited with some success under the Natale prefix.
Going on with one of Kairos' puppies (whelped 20/7/89) to encounter our first exposure to The Dog World in the eighties. We attempted to exhibit Luke, in the conformation ring, but with little success. His temperament was unfortunately not his best attribute. Very unfortunate as he was excellent at obedience. Luke he was put to rest at just over 18 months of age (three years on & still learning).
EXCELLENT Temperament at the top of our list, we went searching for our next Rotty, (Still with very little knowledge of the breed, but learning as we went). Duke - Muirnliegh Pontiac (ET) (whelped 24/12/90 by Kaye & Wayne Frick), came into our lives. Temperament: Excellent - Conformation: not-so-excellent... but better than some. After some hard work and perseverance Duke eventually gained his Championship Title, at almost 4 years of age. In the obedience ring we conquered The Prelim, (but that is where the obedience ended), Duke became ring wise so we bowed out gracefully, Yes learnt a lot.
My next Rotty was Aggi, Blackcombe The Chatterbox, whelped 22/10/91. Who regrettably at the age of 15 months ruptured her cruciate ligament, after operating and just when things were looking good (5 weeks later) the other one ruptured. Emotions aside I chose to put her to sleep, as I felt the other options were not viable or kind. Still one of the hardest decisions I have had to make, but the right one. She will be missed forever.
After meeting Chris & Doug Mummery (Heatherglen Kennels) on a brief visit to Eaglehawk (Victoria) with Roberta Crouch (Blackcombe Rottweilers) my next Rotty was given to me. Due to my loss (of Aggi), Doug Mummery chose me for some reason to give a puppy. He said, you have to have a dog, it will help you mend, wise man. Tilly, Heatherglen Ulla whelped 10/4/93 was to be my next (very special) bitch. Tilly as the foundation of my breeding and whilst she had her faults, I endeavoured to correct some of them with carefully chosen sires with help from Robyn Rogers [Smyth] (Muzairib Rottweilers).
Then came Sheri, Blackcombe Violet (1/4/94 to 2007). Sheri lived with very good friends, Kathy, Rob, Kelly & Jasmine Willson, as Tilly & her did not see eye to eye she also shared a kennel with Monty - Muzairib Urban Cowboy.
Then from my first litter sired by Aust Ch Muzairib The Busker to Dam Heatherglen Ulla ET came Schwartzhund Cashel (whelped 14/3/95), whose very successful show career started with a Best Puppy in Specialty Show at the 1996 Victorian National and ended in 1998 with over 400 challenge points to her name. August of 1999 saw Cashel become a mother for the first time to sire Marshall von rising Star (IMP USA). Cashel successfully gained her ET, BH & CD titles. Cashel now rests under a double delight rose bush in the garden. Cashel lived to 11 years of age. Gone but NEVER forgotten... "My Girl" forever.
Schwartzhund Ruby Lee & Schwartzhund Angie were to be our next two hopefuls from the next litter - Marshall von Rising Star x Aust Ch Schwartzhund Cashel CD ET BH. At only ten months of age Angie (exclusively handled by Don Battersby, Alaskan Malamute Breeder/Exhibitor "Tuvaaqan") gained her first challenge. Ruby following closely behind her sister has almost equalled her challenge point tally. Sadly Ruby was put to rest in February of 2011 and Angie in 2013 just shy of her 14th birthday. All but one from this litter made it to double figures.
11th July 2000 saw the next Schwartzhund litter whelped Dam: Blackcombe Violet & Sire: Aust Grand Champion Blackcombe Black Adder. Five beautiful puppies 2 females & three males. Schwartzhund Nike, Nemesis and Eros (all lived to 10+ years of age). Liza (S. Nemesis) & Eros were both exhibited with some success. Thank you to Dr Roberta Crouch (Blackcombe Rottweilers) for making this litter possible.
Schwartzhund Cashel's second and final litter born, 31st May 2001 to sire Blackcombe Lestat, produced some exceptional working lines, one of the pups - Schwartzhund Gus Winkler gained his CD & almost CDX; a credit to his mum & dad Julie & Reg Lapidge.
My next & what was to be my final litter, (so I thought) was Schwartzhund Ruby Lee x Aust Ch Blackcombe Chakkotay, from which 1 puppy was produced 25/3/2002 - Schwartzhund Einzelkind (Cleo).
Not long after this, the Banning of Tail Docking came into play; I was in two minds to continue breeding. I believed, as did so many others - the true character of The Rottweiler would be compromised, besides I had never owned a NON-docked breed my whole life! I had also lost interest in the show ring, then in 2006 when Cleo was nearly 4 years old I put her in a few all breeds shows only to take out Best of Breed each time, she was an Australian Champion in no time. I then (at the very last minute) entered Cleo in the RCVIC Championship Show , Cleo was awarded her first V Rating and Placed 2nd in Open Bitch. Hhhmm I think I might just have to show her some more. Yep I got the bug back!!!!
I believed Cleo was far too nice a Bitch to never reproduce and besides what would I do for a Rottweiler when she wasn't around any more... eeek! So I decided to breed her.... yep and learn to live with the tails! Hip Scores etc done at 5 years of age (grade 0) & Breed Survey pass completed, I approached good friend, Kerry Osborne and asked to use her import, Aust & NRCA Champion Hanbar Wizard (IMP UK) resulting in 3 beautiful boys whelped on the 5/9/2008. Cleo has now since past in October 2013 and is resting at Helgamum's (aged11&1/2).
After finding two very good family homes for two of the boys, I found it very difficult to satisfy my criteria for the perfect home for the final Pup Moe, THANKFULLY, as Moe has turned out to be the most wonderful & successful dog I have bred to date. Check out his page for more about Schwartzhund Aramis.
In August of 2010 Ubersein Top Model (Elle) joined my family, thank you to Louise Russell for breeding this beautiful girl. We have been very successful competing in the Conformation ring with Elle. She currently has 14 V Ratings with 3 of them V1's and a Challenge Bitch! Elle is now a NATIONAL CHAMPION!!!!
The "Sound of Music" themed litter was born 15th of December 2012 into the wee small hours... producing 9 beautiful puppies; of which Aust Ch Schwartzhund Gretl "Mae" stayed with us and Schwartzhund Friedrich "Bond" has moved in with good friends Julie & Reg Lapidge and have now commenced their Show Careers. Schwartzhund Liesl "Aria" is also currently being campaigned in Tasmania by Sharni Jordan & Michelle Vincent. Bear "Schwartzhund Kurt" with encouragement from his family has been successfully exhibited at 2 specialties in South Australia gaining a VP6 at the 2013 National & VP1/Best Opposite Puppy in Show @ The RCSA Championship Show. All other 5 puppies have moved to various locations around Australia with their new families; to whom I am extremely grateful for welcoming them into their Excellent Homes!
Bond was awarded VP1 and BEST BABY PUPPY IN 'SPECIALTY SHOW' and "SPECIAL JUDGES AWARD" FOR BEST OVERALL PUPPY 3 - 12 MONTHS OLD at the tender age of 14 weeks AND at his very first show!!!! Looking forward to the future with these beautiful babies. Both Mae & Bond are Australian Champions with multiple V Ratings and Class In Group awards.
The next generation was whelped 20th September 2015!!!
Sire: UK/NDL CHAMPION MINAELEA'S BLACK MAMBO (Brandon)
Dam: NRC(A)/AUST CHAMPION UBERSEIN TOP MODEL (AI)
From this litter Maverick - Aust Ch Schwartzhund Taylors Top Gun (AI) & Tyra - Aust Ch Schwartzhund Taylors Top Model (AI) stayed with us at Schwartzhund.
Maverick is developing into a wonderful Male Rottweiler and has had many successes in the all breeds show ring. He gained his Australian Title at under 12 months, Best of Breed at 2016 Royal Adelaide Show from the Puppy Class, V Rated, NRCA Breed Survey Pass, Runner Up in Group x 2 & Multi Class in Group awards. He's a clown with the best Temperament, with a love of everyone (especially Rori Christine Spry's Doberman - Mav likes a skinny Black n Rust chick!)
Tyra also gained her Australian Championship Title on Australia Day 2018! Tyra is a loving, sweet natured girl. This litter certainly produced some very good looking Rottweilers with wonderful temperaments.
